Guitar Licks of the Brit-Rock Heroes: Clapton, Beck and Page (Book)

Product Description

The premier title in a new player series, this helpful guide details the lead guitar styles of three legendary musicians - Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page. Written by guitar expert Jesse Gress, this volume contains licks that have been constructed after careful study of dozens of the artists' greatest live performances. The Guitar Lick Factory series takes guitarists inside the music they want to play. Focusing on a particular guitar hero or style, each Lick Factory title presents hundreds of ready-to-play licks that players can take to their next gig. Readers also learn how to extract dozens of rhythmic and melodic variations from each example, and how to use each lick over different chords. All the licks can be mixed and matched into longer improvisations. Most important, Guitar Lick Factory gives guitarists the tools and inspiration they need to create their own licks.

This book, more than any other instructional manual, has really boosted my understanding of blues licks and riffs. Divided into three sections with each section focusing on one of the three greatest White blues guitarists in the history of electric guitar, you'll learn how to do a number of things with a blues lick that you might never catch onto if you are simply trying to mimic lines off a CD. Want to know how Clapton gets that powerful triplets-across-fours sound in some of his old Blues Breakers and Cream solos? This book will show you, and even better, let you hear the riffs on the included CD. Very much worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for any guitarist!!, August 18, 2011

This book is amazing, not only will it show how to learn the best riffs from some of the best guitarists ever, but Jesse Gress also gives you the tools in this book to apply the riffs to your own playing. It has for sure helped me a ton as a guitarist! One thing that I disliked though is that Jimmy Page was only given half the riffs of the other two guitarists, and he is possibly the greatest riff writer of all time! There are a lot more Led Zep songs that the author could have gone over. But, for what is in the book it is certainly worth getting!
