| 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful This review is from: Official Vintage Guitar Magazine Price Guide 2006 Edition (Official Vintage Guitar Magazine Price Guide) (Paperback) The first 3 out of 5 guitars I searched for were not listed. Missing certain models of Kay, Dean, Silvertone to mention a few. When I looked for a model of Martin, that model was missing also. I found all of the models in a different price guide. And yes, all of the missing models are vintage. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful This review is from: Official Vintage Guitar Magazine Price Guide 2006 Edition (Official Vintage Guitar Magazine Price Guide) (Paperback) This is an indispensable reference for guitar collectors. That said, it is not perfect, only one tool for basing values. Ebay is the value setter for any collectable since it encompasses a worldwide market. This edition did not accurately reflect the increase in values for some Fender products, for example. Overall, it has a lot of good info on an amazing variety of popular and obscure guitars, basses, amps and effects. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Official Vintage Guitar Magazine Price Guide 2006 Edition (Official Vintage Guitar Magazine Price Guide) (Paperback) Vintage Guitar Magazine has been the source for pricing thousands of guitars over the decades, and this expanded 2006 edition of Official Vintage Guitar Magazine Price Guide 2005: The Only Complete Guide provides the latest details. Prices are offered for those in excellent condition by 'low' and 'high' prices and are arranged by maker for quick and easy location. Small black and white photos of guitars appear on every page; but it's the values, notes and company histories which make this price guide so invaluable. |

| 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful By This review is from: The Official Vintage Guitar Instrument Price Guide (Paperback) Alan Greenwood's book on Vintage Guitars will blow you away with his vast compendium of guitars (including a bunch you never knew even existed). His precision is unmatched. There are guitars in there that most folks have never even heard of, much less know of, including guitar affecionados such as myself. Many, many pictures of vintage instruments are offered, but a lot of them are black and white. But they are still there. In fact I found out that one of my instruments was mis-dated by a year, simply because the particular finish was not offered in the year I was given as the origination date. Now THAT is esoteric if there ever were such a term. His history of excellent research is unlikely to be found elsewhere. There is a short section on amplifiers, but it is brief, and leaves out any coverage on the fine Sunn amp brand, one of the few amplifiers based on the widely acknowledged king of guitar amp tubes, the 6550A (the Sunn amp was the one James Marshall Hendrix started out... This review is from: The Official Vintage Guitar Instrument Price Guide (Official Vintage Guitar Magazine Price Guide) (Paperback) It is a rare occurrence that I get a purchase through Amazon that is not top-notch...this is one. One of the poorest price guides that I have ever seen, although not the fault of Amazon nor the supplier. I gave it away to an unsuspecting third party. |
